Year 3/4 Class Page!
Teacher: Miss Mills
Teaching Support: Mrs Kirkbride and Mrs Wisniewski
PPA Teacher: Mrs Khalid
We are all super happy to have you back! Here you will find all the information you need to know about our wonderful class and see some of the amazing work we have been doing!
Useful information:
PE -
PE will take place twice a week this year! We will be swimming on Thursday mornings - please make sure your child has the appropriate kit for this (one piece swimming costumes or trunks, goggles, swimming hats and a towel). We will also be doing PE on a Monday. Please make sure children have the correct kit for this too.
All jewellery needs to be removed at home or covered with plasters for these lessons.
Reading -
Children are expected to read at least 3 times a week. Those who read 7+ times will be recognised in our weekly celebration assembly and newsletter. Reading is crucial for children's learning - deepening their vocabulary and understanding of the world around them.
Reading records should be brought back into school every day.
Homework-
Children will be given weekly spellings and homework on a Friday to complete by the following Friday. This will be distributed on Google Classroom.
Uniform -
All children are expected to wear full uniform every day. We do allow pupils to wear all black trainers - no coloured swooshes/stripes etc. with all black soles. Black shoes are also still acceptable and preferred for school.
Autumn 1!
We are super excited to start our amazing journey this year! Here is where you can see what we get up to from September to October!
Curriculum plan
Our value this half term is...
RESPECT

How have you shown respect this half term?
- Listening in lessons and assemblies.
- Tucking my chair under when I leave it.
- Not talking with my mouth full of food.
- Putting things back where I found them.
- Holding the doors open for my teachers.
- Saying 'please' and 'thank you'.
Highlights of our learning!
Week one - 02/09/25 - 05/09/25
We have started off this academic year with a real bang! We have already made some great links to prior learning and are looking forward to what this year has to offer!
On Wednesday we began our preparations for our DT project of Vegan Apple Crumbles! We walked around the school grounds, navigating the different trees and managed to pick over 180 apples! Can you guess how many we collected?

Week two - 08/09/25 - 12/09/25
This week we have made real jumps in progress with our confidence and self-esteem when answering and contributing in the classroom. Everyone has been able to show off their confidence using STEM sentences when giving answers (using our Voice 21 skills!) and this has really payed off for each and every one of our amazing children! They all have a piece of their work on our working walls!
In English we have explored one of the main characters from our story, 'The Rhythm of the Rain' through inference and hot seating (which we all enjoyed!).

Week three - 15/09/25 - 19/09/25
Monday 15th - Imagine everything you have ever wished for, came true! This is how we felt when we had the amazing Mr Michael Rosen come into our school and talk to us about how to perform stories and poems! We even got to ask him some questions!
Mr Rosen is a world famous author who came to the local area for the Poetry Fest! We were so fortunate he could fit us into his busy schedule. In our assembly, he read his new book, 'Oh, Dear!' and asked us to join in!
What a pleasure!

Tuesday 16th - We have made a great start with our Science work - looking at materials! Today we got to get hands on with solids and liquids to compare their similarities and differences. We had milk, washing up liquid, water, hand sanitiser and juice for our liquids. We then used everyday materials around the classroom to observe solids! We discussed whether ALL solids were the same, as well as ALL liquids.
We discovered that describing solids as a whole was very tricky!
We also tried LBQ (for many of us, this was the first time using this great tech!) - we recapped our knowledge on place value all while developing our IT, Voice 21 and confidence skills!

Wednesday 17th - We tasted apple crumble fillings! Some children were super nervous to try new flavours but every single one of us tasted at least one of our five flavours!
We tried peaches, cinnamon, cranberries, vanilla and raisins! We judged them on their appearance, smell and taste! In the end, we decided tat peaches, vanilla and cranberries were the best additional extras for our crumbles!

Week four - 22/09/25 - 26/09/25
