Assessing Children's Learning
Families are invited to meet with teachers every term to discuss their child’s progress and to see their work. If you cannot attend this evening please speak to the class teacher to arrange a different time.
A written report on your child’s progress is sent home towards the end of the summer term.
Assessment of your child’s work goes on all the time and you are more than welcome to ask the class teacher about your child’s progress at any time.
During Year Two and Year Six children take the Standard Attainment Tests (SATs) and their results are sent home.
The government’s Standards and Assessment Agency (STA) have produced leaflets and videos to help families understand the recent changes to primary school progress measures, and the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) assessments.
Lancashire County Council also produces a guide to help families understand the Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) assessments, and a guide to help families understand the Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception) assessments.
Other assessments are done every year to help teachers monitor the children’s progress and plan appropriate work.
If we have any concerns about your child we will contact you immediately and hope that you will contact us with any concerns that you have.
